<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Hey guys! I've got a FREE printable and activity for you today! This one is dental health themed for the month of February and I'm so excited (and know your littles will be too) because it involves shaving cream!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi09APQ-80aIHnfnKrSnGKfmwMfezj90Mh5kcHpiGmv-4FjC3HxqfI90THNJqm3GW2f_ff7L_nrCtI7GBPOuKN4LQ7eHc0G6H-YtYQbJAz16YU3XwzrG69lbt_GT4JNVwAOAZVXD6c6JMd3/s1600/ACS_0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="959" data-original-width="960" height="398" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi09APQ-80aIHnfnKrSnGKfmwMfezj90Mh5kcHpiGmv-4FjC3HxqfI90THNJqm3GW2f_ff7L_nrCtI7GBPOuKN4LQ7eHc0G6H-YtYQbJAz16YU3XwzrG69lbt_GT4JNVwAOAZVXD6c6JMd3/s400/ACS_0003.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Let's just call this "Brush Away the ______!" Fill that blank in with alphabet letters, numbers, colors, sight words, you name it and you've got yourself a low prep activity that can be modified for different ability levels.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To set up this activity you'll need to print this <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1auPlACYkQO5pAft7ZhQdOMWnCfUEi_9F/view?usp=sharing">FREE sheet</a>, then laminate it or put it in a dry erase pouch. Next pair it with a dry erase marker, a toothbrush, some shaving cream, a small old towel, and a cup of water.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPHdCqJDy5OXdxBLehH-p28rokiZ17WcJJv48a_8zqFTo5VuDRKil5HBQvx5sH-7EMmbYxuj9pF86IRpO1kYbwwskNk_riE4nOBnR5p5gpT9o4WoHDq9sR1Zt7cxrfhpbSafcLPPz6XG4j/s1600/ACS_0002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="889" data-original-width="889" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPHdCqJDy5OXdxBLehH-p28rokiZ17WcJJv48a_8zqFTo5VuDRKil5HBQvx5sH-7EMmbYxuj9pF86IRpO1kYbwwskNk_riE4nOBnR5p5gpT9o4WoHDq9sR1Zt7cxrfhpbSafcLPPz6XG4j/s400/ACS_0002.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Once you've got everything set out you are set to go! Sit with your little one and use the dry erase marker to write a letter on the tooth. Have them identify the letter name and sound then let them "brush away the plaque" using a little bit of shaving cream and the toothbrush. Once the letter is gone wipe away the excess shaving cream and play again!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAVYISJnJp9g_d0H5JbXNxEDGqr6oDfP35uDDgUAEke5GRiIgvIeABcnBSc2YgvLcSWYQLgI6lbRf0CagzKrTKcgB26GptW6cNaXsGj1iL5AnS0gouJ5VCtBMvcY3raN1FMGM9xKhn4Ul-/s1600/ACS_0007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAVYISJnJp9g_d0H5JbXNxEDGqr6oDfP35uDDgUAEke5GRiIgvIeABcnBSc2YgvLcSWYQLgI6lbRf0CagzKrTKcgB26GptW6cNaXsGj1iL5AnS0gouJ5VCtBMvcY3raN1FMGM9xKhn4Ul-/s400/ACS_0007.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you want to make it more independent add a set of letter, number, sight word, or color cards and have your little one pick a card, draw or write what's on the card on the tooth, then "brush" it away. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV5yA5XQkJJZy0XQ033Dbg8JEu6HsZqt9GkcWGjPeHmr7SVOgymOnQesxGN5JWq7MduG0aBnoXpOWHbA8HM-IhHZ2xLootiaB3ZgNSOORrvzNvXRUySkCYJrPVi79UoxH7uAF98NOObqRy/s1600/ACS_0005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1124" data-original-width="1124" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV5yA5XQkJJZy0XQ033Dbg8JEu6HsZqt9GkcWGjPeHmr7SVOgymOnQesxGN5JWq7MduG0aBnoXpOWHbA8HM-IhHZ2xLootiaB3ZgNSOORrvzNvXRUySkCYJrPVi79UoxH7uAF98NOObqRy/s400/ACS_0005.jpg" width="400" /></span></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Have you seen the adorable mini heart containers at Walmart in the Valentine's Day section?! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="800" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmuS9letnxTL95lluORPMskiUa7FCklou-70_TFvXdArzb9UkaSy0DayO2Sbf6Vwm5MdJ-4rgXacZzkrAKHK0CmhVKWH9jIOqHhk51SPhijeCOF9ef_ftPkrtB7Dr760KCkxIHJawHWGIq/s400/You%2527re+always+with+me.png" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">They are so cute and CHEAP, I'm talking $1.98 for 12 so you know I scooped them up because my brain was just racing with ideas of how I could use them at home or in the classroom. Today I want to share with you SIX ideas (and a few freebies) for how to use these heart containers this February!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGc2EdIXLeNh7btHIq7yXWzyQ-Z1QEIUkZs4o_0Egy8Tltx6w05BcfN0NiCCvkKRzM8rEEHuF3TuOf8z2pYdICG5eU-lxwwfBK-_7TQbrqo3OXP0PJLsumcfFLT-RWXwOMM7Zb6pg9iEBH/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Needing a little letter recognition practice? Fill each plastic heart container with a magnetic letter. Then print off this <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing">F</a><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing">REE alphabet chart</a> and have your kiddos pick a heart, open it up, identify and name the letter, then match it to the correct letter on the chart. Super simple! In the download I've also included an uppercase and lowercase tracing page which could be substituted for the alphabet chart if you want to include handwriting practice and they're perfect to use as a recording sheet for centers.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYGrKHclHWiVKPgzvYToHJXrxdcWiwpuGxd6GefuDdMK2betARLgdiQ3-seFNKdlAXGS9NgV3OM_1hn2eX2vcairyN8czL-vUp_HTw0FLD1OUcEHQkd4SCPkkILi5goj3UTMeHn5oNmA6E/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match-2.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTX5oqAI0TfWt3y71HSPqCzlckLUKL7q34KJg3Mo1vUgffESED1_idkLkEv4qp8wBPZL09nCLKHZnnbH-8IRXS8raYf0HzhijJv0z5WPeaX2Ww9Yv-cL6_dsnhlpIe5ZpIKTL64hfJzTJT/s400/IMG_0197+2.jpg" width="300" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Heart stamping is so much fun and is perfect for creating Valentine's day cards, gifts, or even student Valentine's card bags! Grab a few of your favorite holiday paint colors then use the bottoms of the heart containers as stamps. Works so well!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjuihs18AUCuTCIMgkj_vyChe8K0U3E6nWzzfzok__nY1EbHi2JrpZzkBRZfeIC3ALT6uLSnVzTUvoqazwblvXjy7HjiYLR0qZaVYv4oPsteP649p4uSEGLW25FBMPn4uyiCYryX9tgTPJ/s1600/Alphabet+Heart+Match-4.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjuihs18AUCuTCIMgkj_vyChe8K0U3E6nWzzfzok__nY1EbHi2JrpZzkBRZfeIC3ALT6uLSnVzTUvoqazwblvXjy7HjiYLR0qZaVYv4oPsteP649p4uSEGLW25FBMPn4uyiCYryX9tgTPJ/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match-4.png" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">We LOVE sensory bins over here so I added these heart containers to one of our February bins. They are perfect for scooping and pouring!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTu6Yxxq3hgSOxLgNpY-_rScNLTt4CVNC4vGRE8oqThAK3BW7qxJKEQBXLCj-xLM24fNigfj3ePTMihUyX_mrif_djIatsV2Brp6nXeQElqnGm9EFZ6HSC3aL2-qxubsyInPvqsrZMa_mv/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match-5.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This next activity focuses on counting and writing numbers 1-12. Label each heart container with a number 1-12 (use dot stickers if you want to remove them later or a Sharpie for longer keep). Then fill each heart with a different number of heart counters. I used heart candies, but you could use any small heart items (mini erasers, print outs, plastic hearts). Have your kiddo pick a heart then count to tell how many. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing">Click Here</a> to grab the printable recording sheet.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdUw-RJTF2P6baVq5STIWXk4K3OzDnJzZM0BmHndiwh7An_e-adAGIy5kLnJNJeZyuWv4mQIOqswHm5CbRspx1TP5UfYc-ZvGuO59kazogvZDlOhCM0O-31vYCPOBh7QC9KUmpq2vqsJZ7/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match-6.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I don't know about your kids, but mine have always been fans of dice games. For this activity add a die to a heart container then have students shake the heart. When they open it they can count to tell how many and color that many hearts. If you want to add in some addition practice place out two heart containers to shake. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing">Grab the FREE printables HERE!</a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKSqMfU47gOGdseQrTx0-g9qhqq82UrNgOzCut4mNi2gP4FzSsQN3_IKLbixmAifJlBwucRShRaZfzHkJ7sfp4omwhfS8tS01EmY1wuMUmw5PjSaZ3n2LAuipKiPcjRzfmrePJ9sQtyzIp/s400/Alphabet+Heart+Match-7.png" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And lastly, the 4 different colored heart containers in this set are perfect for making patterns. I separated the tops and bottoms to create 24 hearts then had my little one create patterns. She LOVE it! This printable is also part of the FREE download <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lU-XnJEoDHTOamnW18kpGJoZzozoTgrj/view?usp=sharing">HERE</a>.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Do you have these containers? Let me know if you have any other fun ideas for how to use them. Happy Teaching!</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"> Here in California we've just had rainy day after rainy day and this sunshine gal is over it! Next week the sun is back and I'm so glad because the gloom really messes with my mood.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This week the girls and I chatted about penguins so I wanted to share this adorable <a href="https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ik_GqDYQLBbHvIsD5VydeiwU4oHWv1wS">2D Shape Penguin with you for FREE</a>! Are you chatting about penguins in class? I know my kiddos loved learning about these silly birds.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">For this craft I just printed the templates on coordinating colored construction paper, cut out the shapes, then set out my model and let this little one get her glue on!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">As she picked up each shape we chatted about the shape name and then at the end we counted how many of each shape we used.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In preschool, children learn to recognize, spell, and write their own names. This is a BIG early literacy goal and acts as a springboard for all kinds of learning.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSybhWr7VAz1l8-Eh8b7glK4pAg0a_rvEDO6BzJ3yGv7TSw8playsZ2a8Mf53yowDcpV2pUI_YZT9Q1izukcY5E5fbJiqiYLJx2J84GdORtFArnIvkqz2tI8VZQNI62oVSBMlFdCRn0i_0/s1600/IMG_B31F36182A1F-1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSybhWr7VAz1l8-Eh8b7glK4pAg0a_rvEDO6BzJ3yGv7TSw8playsZ2a8Mf53yowDcpV2pUI_YZT9Q1izukcY5E5fbJiqiYLJx2J84GdORtFArnIvkqz2tI8VZQNI62oVSBMlFdCRn0i_0/s400/IMG_B31F36182A1F-1.jpeg" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Today I want to share an easy, hands on winter name activity that is perfect for little ones at home or school. I call this SNOWY NAMES and it can be done 3 different ways. For each version you will need a sheet of blue paper with each child's name written or printed out on it.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5qBZ_CWV6hbU_1d3TJemQcA72zELvz8BhN-3rGh-0xEg__zqOWhyDPgH-j5s9ihyphenhyphenx6MUXMULJIrR7RTRLK8xyaYa2b9cm5PrRN3c2TtTh6METG9JZ1lcYgLq3BJnnrPXelHUZotAcuO2W/s1600/IMG_7011+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5qBZ_CWV6hbU_1d3TJemQcA72zELvz8BhN-3rGh-0xEg__zqOWhyDPgH-j5s9ihyphenhyphenx6MUXMULJIrR7RTRLK8xyaYa2b9cm5PrRN3c2TtTh6METG9JZ1lcYgLq3BJnnrPXelHUZotAcuO2W/s400/IMG_7011+2.JPG" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Snowy Marshmallow Names</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">This first version is favorite because it involves FOOD! Have each child outline their name with Elmer's glue and then stick on mini marshmallows to form each letter. Be sure to set aside a few extra marshmallows for your kiddos to snack on while they work. ;)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmholnpc035x_TSgwvNWFGY-5VgivnntNZ9ztC_N-ddA8MhZbSO8Q-xWV1L4eMGmcGTGZmUPncgtjR1tK4XuGH0P71AstCyEqLRhggCaUA68210COr9dASCmCWZ1733QnGE6p2IsJnSkO0/s1600/IMG_7007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmholnpc035x_TSgwvNWFGY-5VgivnntNZ9ztC_N-ddA8MhZbSO8Q-xWV1L4eMGmcGTGZmUPncgtjR1tK4XuGH0P71AstCyEqLRhggCaUA68210COr9dASCmCWZ1733QnGE6p2IsJnSkO0/s400/IMG_7007.JPG" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Snowy Dot Sticker Names</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In this version give each child a few sheets of plain white dot stickers then have them peel and stick them to form each letter. I found the dot stickers at the dollar store, but binder reinforcement stickers would work great too. Using stickers is a great way to build fine motor skills.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Snowy Cotton Ball Painting</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">If you don't mind a little mess this version is super fun! Pull out the white paint, add some cotton balls, and clothespins then let your little one get busy forming the letters in their name by painting and dabbing snowy dots.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1mjLXSpJFceFcl4ZbJYO6b6DCd66c9ydH972oHspuybxXbFK_u4KE0KKmp2GfbzFaMO3h9CGUCXSmy7LjW-SFKusg0LWrt-KcZFXrs8tw0HydXoC0fhyPybM1XZFJSP5nN9R6cDxHh5bu/s1600/IMG_7009+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-size: large;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1mjLXSpJFceFcl4ZbJYO6b6DCd66c9ydH972oHspuybxXbFK_u4KE0KKmp2GfbzFaMO3h9CGUCXSmy7LjW-SFKusg0LWrt-KcZFXrs8tw0HydXoC0fhyPybM1XZFJSP5nN9R6cDxHh5bu/s400/IMG_7009+2.JPG" width="400" /></span></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">And while this activity looks like play, these simple name activities provide lots of learning too! Don't forget to chat about letter names, letter sounds, how a capital goes at the beginning of a name, the proper way to form letters etc. Learning is FUN! </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Which activity is your favorite?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's almost time to pull out the pots and pans and ring in the new year! Are you ready? We are and that's partly because we don't have any crazy New Year's Eve plans. Nope. Nothing at all. My little family of four will be hanging at home and that's OK with me. HA-HA! Littles in bed on time, cozy clothes, and a glass of wine... sounds about perfect in this phase of life. Would you agree?!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">BUT for a little festive fun I did make these New Year's Dot Pages and the girls loved them! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vumIIHsugQ_d241OujXIDGVe1vt9yd1y/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRyKZTpLOlxF7r5YO7WH3I3C0lV4r1MXSdRTaWEkt0PAIh9aW6yFtuohXXEiPQr50fpycw-1HQPx8d_7FzZav5Lc1IWw4-Y0atXZw7iS6Cx7M2ipIHVRTP61Kwl6-OqRnOTq00fR3cwsYb/s400/IMG_6350.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">They are perfect to use with bingo daubers, do-a-dot markers, Target mini-erasers, or pom poms and provide easy entertainment with very little mess!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vumIIHsugQ_d241OujXIDGVe1vt9yd1y/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEholi2lrKLR5khEHb6c8hRnfmPxms6y4TuTR2zSqcI-WG8bdlykMPyx-o6Oi-mSxgWfGHQ3ixF6zVksh8Y4pFm4AQjB9vRqtHAMRAc6Gu34Jv3_W8M0Anw2D30-NvezTAxYIrKUuqDytyNX/s400/IMG_6331.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vumIIHsugQ_d241OujXIDGVe1vt9yd1y/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiARZd8JmJgA8Dw_5iSZ7zyj-aKcSkmBI8ANohdgXHWxal1O_hAYEa8NxsGpDN0cOLhVjTAru5Nt3AuA5XUvDqFTOl6kTh7nCSM6QG2RslZcP8efc-6ju25NW1oqjmdvXqiWZXui3WzqOUn/s400/IMG_6336+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Dot pages are awesome for kiddos because they help build hand coordination (just look at that concentration) and fine motor skills.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vumIIHsugQ_d241OujXIDGVe1vt9yd1y/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk3khQReP8JsLhssjQ32flOztgCvGzXOz9CSa-pGoaYiq_0V3vEGh7RYt5bFJzOq-pmo-5_xMSYwHfD1QkXfB590HzB1WHm4m2P6MIOfdqxVrqOOZhXMMi_cdFIYiykhqmHCGjyV24IXnE/s400/IMG_6343.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Use them at home with your own kids or print and add them to a center for that first week back to school! You can grab them for FREE by <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vumIIHsugQ_d241OujXIDGVe1vt9yd1y/view?usp=sharing">clicking here</a> or on any image in this post.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;">Today I pulled out these adorable wooden winter figures i picked up a few weeks back and they were thrilled. They stacked them, lined them up, used them for pretend play, and just had a good time exploring!</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">After some play I pulled out these snowman number cards and did some counting practice with my 3 year old. I had her pick a card, count the dots in the ten frame, say the number name, and then she counted out the wooden figures to match. And can I just say... SHE IS GETTING SO GOOD! It makes my mama heart proud.</span></div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Syllable counting... the rhythm of words. This foundational skill is essential for little learners because it helps them to accurately chunk words for decoding and segment words for spelling. It is an important part of phonological awareness which kiddos NEED before learning to read.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF7Tw3Xca_4ZD1kikURoUsva0nzNodIHdbiMkvhNn7HplKDAvA1ypvxcIE7NzimsSsu8ggFoqPkhu_Yxd26Mq_dCzc2b7L2Yb7cdJ0icPqdihC9uPtYGocCH3sHDP0ll3L_pCzZzPlPoNq/s1600/IMG_1637.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF7Tw3Xca_4ZD1kikURoUsva0nzNodIHdbiMkvhNn7HplKDAvA1ypvxcIE7NzimsSsu8ggFoqPkhu_Yxd26Mq_dCzc2b7L2Yb7cdJ0icPqdihC9uPtYGocCH3sHDP0ll3L_pCzZzPlPoNq/s400/IMG_1637.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I like to describe syllabication by saying, "syllables are the number of parts a word breaks into when you say it. All words have syllables. Some words have just one, others have two or three or even more!" And then, WE PRACTICE!!!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rO11FlhF_6ftTOfdvkKV4dxWI7oo69Pc/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgZ6f077e2jSfaUTvVL5g1O4T57LCNkyvTXz4_JAWXW1YKALNVPG7XRUOSX1m7UoI2SzXRw9cDQAttrCkZMPJuRGj17autyUfY8kcLMi7EgtYPY3FDGzeQ6LVr6An2pVnnDjMi2D8tPJ84/s640/IMG_1673.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> </span></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Kiddos need lots of time to practice and this Christmas syllable sorting activity is a fun way to practice counting syllables in words during December. Set it up on an anchor chart and do it whole class then add it to a center with the follow up sheet for additional practice. You can have students clap out the syllables, tap them with sticks, or do the good ol' jaw drop method.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">With Thanksgiving next week this past week was filled with TURKEY day fun! Each day I planned a hands on turkey themed activity and wanted to share with you just what we did! I try to keep our activities pretty simple, materials to a minimum, and of course they are short and sweet. My 3 year old LOVED all the activities and even my 17 month old joined in the fun BUT don't let their ages stop you from adjusting these activities for pre-k and kinder babies because you SO CAN and they'd love it!</span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This activity was probably the favorite of the week and it's so simple to set up! Grab a chip/dip tray, add some Play-Doh, then toss in items they can use to create a turkey like feathers, googly eyes, pom-poms, cut up paper for beaks, and pipe cleaners. Both my girls LOVED this activity. This would be so fun to do in the classroom too! You could easily tie it into a writing lesson or even math!</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Does your kiddo need scissor cutting practice?! If so this activity is perfect! Start by having your kiddo create a paper plate turkey. <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uOrm_LOAd-tGZdaPD6UVEGJ-5KKGAL2j/view?usp=sharing">Click here to grab the face cut-outs we used for FREE</a>! Have your child color, cut, and glue the turkey face onto the paper plate. Then glue feathers to the back of the plate. Now your little one is ready to get cutting!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Build those fine motor skills with this activity! For this activity you just need two things - a colander and some feathers. Then let your little one go wild! I added a turkey face by taping it to the front of the colander (not pictured ) for some theme fun!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you've got little ones at home and have never used contact paper GO GET SOME NOW! Seriously my girls love when I tape a sheet to the wall and there are so many activities you can use it for. For this activity all I did was add a cut out turkey and then gave my daughter a cup of feathers and she was set to go! You can build on this activity by having your little on count the feathers, make patterns, talk about colors etc.</div>
<h2 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br />Rice Turkey Handprint</span></h2>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Handprint crafts are my favorite! For this one we switched it up and instead of painting our hands we used rice! To make this little craft you will need a paper plate, brown rice, colored rainbow rice <a href="https://happyhooligans.ca/rainbow-rice/">(click here for a how to)</a>, chocolate chips, Goldfish, and Elmer's glue. First trace your child's hand in the middle of the paper plate. Then fill the inside of the outline with glue. Add brown rice to the palm and rainbow rice to the fingers, shake off the excess. Last add a chocolate chip for the eye and Goldfish for a beak. Save as a keepsake or cut it out and add it to a Thanksgiving card that reads, "Happy Thanksgiving! From your little TURKEY."</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For our last activity of the week I decided to come up with a turkey song to help us practice our letters! Together we sang the song and then I had my daughter pick a magnetic letter, name it, and then "feed" it to the turkey (I created the turkey container out of an oatmeal tub). She loved the song and it was a great way to practice letter ID. You can grab the song print out <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f9bv-IR9nH80FphyntGOmz7dT6sX1h1X/view?usp=sharing">FREE by clicking on the image below. </a></div>

</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm so excited that I FINALLY finished these alphabet pages! I started this little project about a month ago because I saw that my Riley was struggling with identifying letters by name and in pre-school her tracing pages that were sent home showed that she was struggling with tracing. We do a ton of hands-on activities at home. We explore letters in all kinds of ways, make crafts, use sensory bins, sing songs...all the things but I thought why not make a sheet to help reinforce what she's learning in school and practice letter names and letter formation more directly.</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />So although it took me much longer to create these sheets than I thought (#momlife), HERE THEY ARE and I'm in LOVE!</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Alphabet-Making-the-Letters-4179365"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiy1DywOdP2AsGcOc58MHQ05_zA4hbP4LW-PTcAgd_MIfLCiL3gsKeUdyo3IEg30DBpugqY4NqHDvG1mFivCdlfpINHmXoAA34JCLFlAVZUWrihRnu3E508HcSFuR5HsUYx2qdnQLrh9hXG/s640/IMG_7361.jpg" width="640" /></a></h3>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These sheets are perfect for reinforcing letter names, sounds, and letter formation. With each sheet have your kiddos finger trace the letter by following the formation arrows. Then pull out those Target mini-erasers or other small manipulatives and have them build letter. Last, they can trace and write the letter. So simple and FUN!</h3>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Alphabet-Making-the-Letters-4179365"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcRV2BRXcaqOHM9uklMPWDFCTgQIG65H5kTxZ-Mek4hNJ26k2NqXpejrAKiXzU21LrI_RO_GhFMyJal7CQfQ-eCX7PFvmhmrFXM3EtAIZ05ZPiElsEC6gbOwgTKj_3C1KRdaMW3hZyL4TT/s640/IMG_7288.jpg" width="640" /></a></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And you are in for a TREAT because as I was pulling out all the things to take photos of this little project my sweet girl said, "Mom, I want to do this. Let's play school." So, while I'm all little rusty and we are at home, here's a video of how I might go about teaching and using this little page whole group style. And when we finished she even said, "That was so fun!" #win</h3>

An alternative Halloween TREAT idea!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Halloween is next week and if you're like me you might be searching for a fun treat idea that is NOT candy. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE a good chocolate bar, but sometimes it's fun (and not to mention allergy safe) to change things up!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I grabbed a few party favor size play-doh packs, plastic spiders, and some AstroBrights round labels to quickly make these gifts for my daughter's pre-school class. They were super easy to put together and after seeing her face when she opened them up I know they will be a hit!</div>

What are the first ten minutes like in your class? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Is it calm? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Is it organized? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are students engaged, socializing, and under control? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are your students happy?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Are YOU happy?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are questions I like to ask myself to identify if I feel my morning routine is starting our day off in the right direction. And if I don't like the answers to the above questions, I know it means that I may need to tweak my morning routine. Below I have given an example of what has worked for me in the past and I hope that it can help share some ideas for those that still may be working on getting their routine down. Don't be afraid to change things if they're not working!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, what has worked for me in terms of "setting the stage for a GREAT day?" A clear, organized, easy routine, where students know what is expected and what to do. It consists of a...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Greeting</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We can't control what happens before our students arrive in our classrooms and the state of mind they may be in when they do, but we can control how they are greeted when the step foot into our rooms at the start of each day. I firmly believe that a morning greeting can impact the entire feel for your day and I encourage you all to take the time to say good morning to each and every one of your students. One way to do this is to stand at the door and make contact with each student as they enter. Eye contact, a smile, and a warm greeting give you the opportunity to assess how a student might be feeling and help to strengthen individual relationships while building classroom community. Make it fun by switching up your greeting style each day or let your kiddos CHOOSE. <div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Morning To -Do's</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now that students have entered the classroom they need to know what to do. If you're at the door greeting students, the students who have already entered need clear directions of what needs to be done and they need to be able to follow these directions independently. An anchor chart which clearly depicts what to do seems to do the trick! Below I have added a few examples of my favorite direction charts from Pinterest. At the beginning of the year teach students the steps of your morning routine and practice, practice, practice how they are to do this each day.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Morning Tubs </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The last step of a morning routine generally includes some type of student activity and for me, I like morning tubs. Morning tubs provide an opportunity for students to socialize, play, be creative, and independent. I like easy to assemble morning tubs that allow students the opportunity to explore, be creative, get chatty, and help them to feel calm. In the kindergarten classroom I like them to be not so structured and instead leave them pretty open ended. Basically morning tubs are hands on manipulatives which rotate through student tables each week. If you want things a little more structured you can always add picture direction cards with prompts which indicate what exactly you want students try with the manipulatives. <br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh41yX_DIJIKv1rwUPk2bpUq3YI5gVskLM5-iW7eNo0RfmzH_jDVL3awFAlDNjKSFRpP6tFcqIOkj9hOFu_Exg7_wxxWqGDCnQoEwHciIFCNTQWNNPFuBSKDNFuuexa_cyPEDHcZ0CEf4R_/s1600/Slide40.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="720" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh41yX_DIJIKv1rwUPk2bpUq3YI5gVskLM5-iW7eNo0RfmzH_jDVL3awFAlDNjKSFRpP6tFcqIOkj9hOFu_Exg7_wxxWqGDCnQoEwHciIFCNTQWNNPFuBSKDNFuuexa_cyPEDHcZ0CEf4R_/s400/Slide40.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have always taught writing through the writing workshop model and as a way to help students think of themselves as independent writers they are given writing folders at the beginning of the year. These folders house student work and are full of reference tools to help them become confident, independent writers. At the beginning of each year I set up these folders for my students. If this sounds like a large task you could always have students set up the folders with you, I just prefer to have them all in working order on day one. So, what is in these folders and how do I prepare them?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I purchase 3-prong pocket folders from any big chain store like Target or Walmart. I prefer the folders that have a plastic or thicker cardboard feel. The extra cheap flimsy folders generally fall apart mid-year so spending a little more at the beginning is worth it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Folder-Resources-1404040"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9iWalePSwhpW-E39xzCW1d_kTTpnrBp_4aTmC6E0KAw83C5vuViGM15PthNrh6ddDTFBFvqyIpr49SeYFK3Bd2jwQV3SshJCxpZJ3YBWHRoQBW3s_p_S4ZLkxmPwf_6qLpTiM-bnzslTZ/s640/IMG_9899.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the front cover of the folder I either (a) glue a writing folder cover sheet and label it with each students' names or (b) print students' names on shipping labels and stick this on the cover. A lot of times I choose (b) as the labels hold up better throughout the year, but if you do choose (a) I'd say to cover the sheet with clear packing tape to protect it or laminate it then glue it down. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6wgSZmEiwxS1Q7PKWkDfPNTpubYYQnyQgYDR48dFjaUBtmZ59J9NNpu4mXoldpfXu8GmfajT34xiaru-Ft1EHx7ihrz5YMHbH7yRfp3-wcGUCUPLe0wmaZYBHQfAfjnXkDaLIJDCYeujm/s1600/IMG_B6854538C45A-1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1083" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6wgSZmEiwxS1Q7PKWkDfPNTpubYYQnyQgYDR48dFjaUBtmZ59J9NNpu4mXoldpfXu8GmfajT34xiaru-Ft1EHx7ihrz5YMHbH7yRfp3-wcGUCUPLe0wmaZYBHQfAfjnXkDaLIJDCYeujm/s400/IMG_B6854538C45A-1.jpeg" width="270" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Inside the folder I place a variety of pages that are used to support student writing. I find it easiest to place these pages in plastic sleeves to help keep them tidy for the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Folder-Resources-1404040"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmrr0hO70ifeRA8DW27Xq-JiP6fqpxTFrlVUtPtkVbDUzADOPfC40LPhUdq3VpbdzZV62bLrV4turM8Ba0Nw6MgEkBTmLQA2uylLgQu2p84uquhZGrMRdjL1esVKsfOM3PnFBPUa6_bEQ8/s640/IMG_9900.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first page in the folder is a writer's checklist. If a student thinks they are done writing a piece I want them to be able to independently check off that they have completed these major tasks.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Folder-Resources-1404040"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH39x3yjl2KKgqyAc3OO4uRXwN7n9ZZ8xlVz3l3T8xIsOzJjotNZK68FrzaajbtDuAbJBMMvm0hgnAip1rEeBGvZh93ZG0gxeK4cPuZPUaKd8kh5tJreiOF3hgLZzd4nrcKXjwnFAE9adY/s640/IMG_9901.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The following page is the "when I'm done" chart. This page is an additional reference sheet that a student uses to make sure that they are completely done with a piece before moving on. Sheets like this help students to not run up to me and say "I'm done, I'm done!" Instead, they know where to look in their folders and check for themselves if they are really done. If they are, they know to start a new piece on their own. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the writing workshop model students choose what to write about. We don't generally give any prompts or specific tasks, therefore I provide students with an "I can write about" page that lists topics to get them thinking, as well as a "write from the heart page" which we fill out during the first weeks of school. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Folder-Resources-1404040"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUNivpw7BsQCrygSagkvhPplm-eSlMmcWxY5VPSf9AAsigMA8sd6u3F76T99AchEhoGDRXZOeqqCkPWZ6ZOr4r9rsv8s6LsvQiwRJnaxAMvLpiq9U4GdUSmflQ4iLAzZCJJJSd1ZZNTjdw/s640/IMG_9902.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next up I include an alphabet chart, a blends and digraph chart, and a word bank with common words. Students can refer to these charts for support and we use these charts during our mini-lesson time as a class. I teach students how to use these charts throughout the year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Writing-Folder-Resources-1404040"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQluV1GfgVPvufBqelORxDAyfN2yt6n_9SSD0P35_yPBGwEqMCGPHHKBIw-wydeFfPT2kVe2uRRDCMo-_PXEQTIo0wrvFiTiHmC7Wqhp3HZSADXWRBE0hDpeYbHNioA0AFKH7-Y7sKi2jZ/s640/IMG_9903.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And lastly I include a personal, working word wall. This page I do not put in a plastic sleeve because we add to it each week. Students write in words with a pencil during our word work/writing time. We do this as a class, never alone.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At the end of writing workshop students need to choose whether they are still working on a piece or if they are all done. In each folder I label the left pocket "still working" in green and the right pocket "all done" in red. I just use return address labels to do this. This helps to organize student writing and provides a place to store their loose writing pages. </div>

Writing workshop is about providing students the opportunity to write like real writers! That means that students need the ability to write on paper at their level and they also need to be able to grab paper to start a new piece as needed. For that reason I provide a variety of writing sheet types and store these in the writing center in the classroom. Students are able to get paper as needed.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With everyone in back to school mode my teacher heart is missing the classroom HARD! I can't tell you how much I miss setting up a classroom and all the excitement of what is back to school. This year with my move back stateside I had originally planned to go back into the classroom, but after much thought and consideration, I have decided to stay home another year with my little girl. And although I am OH SO GRATEFUL for this opportunity there is a part of me that knows I'm really going to miss not actually being in the classroom again for another year. I am a teacher. I miss not being in the classroom. But I know the years go fast and I LOVE my job at home. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
With that being said, I am always thinking TEACHER-LIKE and I was browsing the Target Dollar Spot when I came across some adorable reward bracelets. The ones that caught my eye had motivational quotes on them like "dream big," "never give up," and "yes you can." This stuck out to me because although these would make great reward bracelets I thought they'd make even better back to school gifts.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5P9UuCmz40mcTdfdldURlBNcm8/view?usp=sharing"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeVe76RQifS0TXKngFfy8i5tpZYtGMbFozg5QxzyKGmwop2E2i8o8G3renpL8C_69_-DoqNM1RuYCGUl_DUqL9Pk5xVexQUa6qmHPfAYb1IBce3-XwcGcDsvzR7Dm60OQNNOV20b7jbHbB/s640/IMG_1056.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's so important for our students to know that we believe in them and that together we will make the year great. We are the ones who will be pushing them to succeed and cheering them on the entire way so why not let them know that from the get go. You can download the gift tag by clicking <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5P9UuCmz40mcTdfdldURlBNcm8/view?usp=sharing">HERE</a> or on the picture above. Wishing you all a wonderful back to school! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And hey if you teach in San Diego I'd be happy to come help you set up your classroom or just chat about school things.... I'm serious. Ha-Ha</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hey All! Just a quick little freebie post because my teacher brain is always on...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yesterday Riley and I attended our very first mommy and me playgroup!!! In all honesty I was pretty nervous to go but I am so glad I did! The moms were really nice and their kiddos were just adorable!!! I'm positive we'll go back and I'm excited to get the know the mommas and their babes better. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At these meet ups they like to have a little activity for the kiddos to participate in and this week it was painting a flower pot and planting a seed. While the kids were planting away, my teacher brain couldn't help but think how this activity is great for a spring plant theme and how this particular activity could easily be tied in to 'how to" writing!!! So here's a quick little FREEBIE for you to use if you'd like to do this activity with your kiddos.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://Plus right now you can usually find small pots, potting soil, and seeds at Target, Walmart, and the Dollar Store!"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5DVrch6k5fYs2tuEAy7lPy_ePkR1pOwBwiXBcjNKVMipP_JrvGxh37dLpFWx0aLDfYqPA4ENj7yg_PfLJOszBiV8Whg_xccJu7aj_1Lk_63oFRiUwsZ6GKlBUFT5u6JUXyQtxAgjLKeaL/s640/IMG_3204-4.JPG" width="493" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And for you info here's a look at what I found at the Dollar Store for garden supplies. </div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I absolutely LOVE reading kindergarten writing!!! Little ones have so much to say and if they can get it on paper it can be so fun to read! Plus, watching the growth they make in a year is just awesome! Now teaching little ones how to write can be a hard task and getting them to write independently can be even harder so today I want to share a few things that I think really help to build independent writers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm_gR1bYiptgpj12qtCykT7qOBxO8X8UIcp07jnAwUs62xTLQ4MihQFP3MO8ZRrX9ELwMwqrGFaYVE79Kc5Pa3b0MLkzc2yvptOrZtI9PhhxguBMMUNExSpoqsVvrmoB_-otBCPwUDBHCZ/s1600/Free+Writing+Goals_Page_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm_gR1bYiptgpj12qtCykT7qOBxO8X8UIcp07jnAwUs62xTLQ4MihQFP3MO8ZRrX9ELwMwqrGFaYVE79Kc5Pa3b0MLkzc2yvptOrZtI9PhhxguBMMUNExSpoqsVvrmoB_-otBCPwUDBHCZ/s400/Free+Writing+Goals_Page_2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Model</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First.... MODEL! I really believe that as a writing workshop teacher you have to model good writing for your students. This means well planned and thought out mini lessons where students can observe and see YOU write. When it comes to kinders I like to say think SMALL and BIG things are sure to come. Teaching writing at this age has to begin with baby lessons and most likely re-teaching of these lessons. Really take time to tell students your thought process while you write and then encourage them to try out what you've taught when they're ready.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Interactive Writing</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Break out that pen and SHARE it! Little ones need opportunities to practice and interactive writing is ONE fabulous way to do this. Interactive writing can be done anytime of the the day and gives students a chance to try things in a collaborative setting which will build their confidence. Be sure to add in additional confidence boosters such as whole class "Hoorays!" when someone helps out. If you aren't doing interactive writing why not try it? Start out small like maybe doing an end of the day recap sentence before going home. Biggest thing to remember is that this is a learning time! It is not perfect and that's OK! You are teaching them the skills of writing: thinking of a topic, planning a sentence, sounding out words, adding punctuation etc.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSpch_xhADf8CRnFOzXvJgbkKdu5Gc9cP4aJBotlrgXbIXp7YIbxd7M-LKDmFpsSIUCv61E9PuE99YD1h18AtH3DumGkNjQSKdqp3Yb19Rt0hyTzm5RsGCCDFmXUf9q4AFEtlp5nR5i7ai/s1600/DSCN0063.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSpch_xhADf8CRnFOzXvJgbkKdu5Gc9cP4aJBotlrgXbIXp7YIbxd7M-LKDmFpsSIUCv61E9PuE99YD1h18AtH3DumGkNjQSKdqp3Yb19Rt0hyTzm5RsGCCDFmXUf9q4AFEtlp5nR5i7ai/s400/DSCN0063.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdSzm9zC4zHUVucGHWVb5n-LWjdGw4YwwNeZdfgoD4JEi6A0CQrlOLLkBESH4LD_msdQjhG7u6pcuDxXiC1cBpBC54oiaZ4gwdIf2MCXDBoZIkudo46mGz1drGygj7j6AJwMYNftoXRDeW/s1600/DSCN0062.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdSzm9zC4zHUVucGHWVb5n-LWjdGw4YwwNeZdfgoD4JEi6A0CQrlOLLkBESH4LD_msdQjhG7u6pcuDxXiC1cBpBC54oiaZ4gwdIf2MCXDBoZIkudo46mGz1drGygj7j6AJwMYNftoXRDeW/s400/DSCN0062.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Give them TOOLS!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As adults we know there are tools we can use to help us be better writers but our kinders don't! It is our job to give them tools to help them succeed and to teach them how to use them. I'm a big fan of writing workshop folders and as part of my workshop folder I like to include a working word wall, alphabet sounds chart, familiar words list, and topic ideas. When doing a mini lesson I'm always sure to model my thinking and how I can use my workshop folder AND other things in the room to help me succeed. Other things in the room might include a class word wall, spacing sticks, themed vocabulary charts, friends etc.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. 1:1 Conferencing & GOALS</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One thing that I love about writing workshop and I find makes a HUGE difference for reluctant writer's is 1:1 conferencing. I know this may seem impossible, but make a checklist and try to meet with all your littles every week. The conference doesn't have to be long. I like to chat about what they are currently working on, give positive feedback, and refer to their personal writing goal and how they have achieved or are working toward this goal. Having individual goals for students is very important and if you have them you must follow up on them or to be frank... what's the point?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am in LOVE with this writing goals clip chart product by <a href="http://www.rundesroom.com/2013/07/differentiation-in-writing-goal-setting.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+blogspot/torar+(Runde's+Room)&m=1">Runde's Room</a>! And don't worry if you're not a kinder teacher she has made goal charts for grades K-8!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL3mD1Cm1Ndpv3mOmP8tJcaEmmTwEc5eDNSXTHGdq2trl_Ozf1Pp9ye3VwMVRO_JcNLCsRp219U-m_ySQhvLP69nzbS7aIgVfG-NlKQS-h63hyw-5cZUMzZVW4CkRP4fBh9V_lJDMGD8TG/s1600/IMG_1241+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL3mD1Cm1Ndpv3mOmP8tJcaEmmTwEc5eDNSXTHGdq2trl_Ozf1Pp9ye3VwMVRO_JcNLCsRp219U-m_ySQhvLP69nzbS7aIgVfG-NlKQS-h63hyw-5cZUMzZVW4CkRP4fBh9V_lJDMGD8TG/s640/IMG_1241+copy.jpg" width="158" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. Talk it Out</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Give students the opportunity to plan and say out loud what they are going to write. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
How?! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Give students time to brainstorm and think about what they are going to write. This can be done on the rug before sending them off to write or done at the tables with quiet think time followed by drawing a picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Next, have students plan out their sentences and SAY them OUT LOUD! I call this the stoplight model. Give students a set of green, yellow and red cubes (green - topic, yellow - supporting, and red-ending) You can choose how many yellows students need based on ability level. Next get them talking and have them use the cubes as reference. They hold up the green cube and say their introduction sentence, then hold up and attach a yellow cube while saying their supporting sentence, and lastly they hold up and attach the red cube while saying their closing sentence.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLK2i6O3F6i6wo_iW8fCtTfVoP8rQoTlKBaqOF9NLp-XVDGYkZC2SkCCJW3G0h2eZD2-xThtZZ_8-kbghDrkVa4XeH4sdcVnGREmCo1NxZT-9AkicV7keC0ET1VpVeKvJwoXHJ8JZE7CgP/s1600/Free+Writing+Goals_Page_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLK2i6O3F6i6wo_iW8fCtTfVoP8rQoTlKBaqOF9NLp-XVDGYkZC2SkCCJW3G0h2eZD2-xThtZZ_8-kbghDrkVa4XeH4sdcVnGREmCo1NxZT-9AkicV7keC0ET1VpVeKvJwoXHJ8JZE7CgP/s320/Free+Writing+Goals_Page_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. Fun Motivators</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't forget to throw in some fun! Little motivators have always gone a long way for me and two of my favorites are my "All Star Writer Cup" and my "writing dance." You can check out what my "All Star Writer Cup" is by clicking <a href="http://lattesandlunchrooms.blogspot.com/2016/02/all-star-writer-cup.html">HERE</a>. As for my "writing dance"... well this sort of just happened one day and my kiddos ate it up so I kept it going! Basically during writing time as I was conferencing or walking around and talking with students I would point out and share fabulous work BUT the way in which I did this was with a dance. For example I knew my students were very capable of writing multiple sentences (not all of them were though :/) so when I came across student writing with let's say 3 sentences I would stop and sing "Three Sentences Woo Woo, Three Sentences Woo Woo" all while doing the running man. I would then share out that students writing (if they said it was ok) and give them a big high five praise! My kids LOVED this and I found that my students started to write a lot more just because of this. Best part is it's so simple and FREE!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lattesandlunchrooms.blogspot.com/2016/02/all-star-writer-cup.html"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgQlFqGyTrGiCIy8u4ftdggm52jQdXsCIjN_T3ZfXXs4bDFXDqfReiTzMYhEdkMOl86M4Wnl8E2dOdHaDAv6wM0yyi2faqV8hG3PWac2ZB3Vm1ACbefbcbyZPLEOq0S2zIe1TT8FIme79H/s320/IMG_1814.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
7. Share and Celebrate!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Students work hard and are proud of their writing so be sure to celebrate this! Here are some ideas of how too do so.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Author's Chair: Set up a special chair and have students share their writing with the entire class. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Pair and Praise: At the end of writer's workshop have students pair up and share what they did that day then have partners praise them on something they liked and did well. For this to work you must TEACH what it means to really listen and give praise/feedback. Be sure to practice this a lot as a whole class first then let them try on their own. I've found this makes kiddos work a bit harder because they want to be proud of what they've done to share with others.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Share with others! Think another class, the principal, on a class blog etc. I like to really talk up sharing events and use this as an encourager.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
Hey there! Last week my mom and I were chatting teacher stuff when she asked if I had any ideas for how to motivate her kindergarten writers. She has some really high kids who aren't really working to their potential and other students who need a little push to encourage them to keep working hard. As I started brainstorming some ideas the V.I.P. Table from <a href="http://www.thetattooedteacher.com/?s=vip+table">The Tattooed Teacher </a>popped in my head! Have you heard about this motivating classroom management idea? If not check out her post by clicking <a href="http://www.thetattooedteacher.com/?s=vip+table">HERE</a>, but in short it is basically a table with fun supplies that can only be used by students who work hard and do their best each day..... So I thought why not just tweak this idea on a smaller scale and use it to help motivate my mom's students during writing. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2ZTPChZBlxZ0QUVvdDt6lyuJoxZk1PsNqpYF14JGAK759CcmiTLxlpuLwimYotqHrbBuWXYr1xsF9JG4ljuHeCurgpCggyLXGkqzTri-u8-HL43gicjMbBDnZXr3ExSqFR3HKQI8k2Y8s/s1600/IMG_1814.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2ZTPChZBlxZ0QUVvdDt6lyuJoxZk1PsNqpYF14JGAK759CcmiTLxlpuLwimYotqHrbBuWXYr1xsF9JG4ljuHeCurgpCggyLXGkqzTri-u8-HL43gicjMbBDnZXr3ExSqFR3HKQI8k2Y8s/s640/IMG_1814.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So here is what I call The All Star Writer Cup! This is a portable cup full of "fancy fun" writing supplies that a student gets to use during writing time. So, how does it work?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Create a cup full of fun supplies. Add markers, flashy pens, mechanical pencils, twistable crayons etc. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Introduce the "All Star Writer Cup" and hold a discussion about what makes an all star writer. Chart out student ideas and set your expectations. (Think a student who is on task, focuses on/achieves THEIR writing goal etc.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. During writing time take a mental note of who you think was an "All Star Writer." Then at the end of writing time announce these writers and tell the class why.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. The NEXT day the above students get to use the cup! I'd make 3 or 4 just so each gets to use their own special cup!<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That's it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Change it Up</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Have an All Star Writing Table</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Add in different paper (brightly colored, larger, both)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
- Do it daily or weekly<br />
<br />
If you're thinking about doing this with your littles you can grab the label and paper bracelets for FREE by clicking the image below.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Have a great end of the week!<br />
<br />
XOXOXO</div>
